Maybe we should team up and do a show - I'm sure we could line up some sponsors :-). Of course, with the writers' strike, it might have to be a reality show.

I think these are all great ideas!
No doubt the publishing industry needs to appeal more to the entertainment aspect of reading. We get a lot of "literary minded" stuff such as the author interviews you mention, but the big bucks is in entertainment.

Reader's Entertainment TV would be a great place for any of your show ideas. Currently, there's an original show there called The Lonesome Losers which is very SNL-like and appeals to a younger audience. But, the show has been a great hit and has been picked up by MySpace, Funny or Die, AtomFilms and featured on the talk show VIRAL.
The show is about a couple of guys who can't get a date, but want to give out love advice online. They're doing quite poorly until they discover romance novels. So, they are reading from the novels, giving our love advice and starting to realize their celebrity online. It's very funny and very viral. It also allows for product placement of books.

Other shows, like the ones you disucss in your blog, are fantastic ideas! All we need now is a sponsor! Too bad the publishing industry isn't as forward-thinking about advertising as some industries are.
